Monte Carlo HH- 4 left, 22 in sb
«
on:

Blinds 40k/80k/5k ante
Stack sizes and positions.
Sb- me 2m (25bbs)
Bb- Jake Cody 1m (12.5bbs)
Utg- Rastafish, 3.3m
Btn- Paul Skipper 3.3m (41bbs)
Payouts 21k, 31k, 53k, 89k
Rastafish folds, Skipper limps. We have 22 in the sb.
Dynamics- Cody playing fairly snug, tighter than I expected, but is v card dead I imagine and probably correctly assesses his edge over the remaining players is fairly big and the structure is so good he's in no rush. I've shoved bvb 5 out of last 6 orbits and he's folded everytime. Would certainly call correctly vs me in this spot. Skipper hasn't limped much. No idea really what he'd limp with, but I imagine it's pretty filthy. He's also pretty wired up, doesn't have much patience and I get the feeling he could snap at any time.
Options. 1) Shoving. Almost certain skipper would fold to a shove, but he could be limping a monster and if I bust it's fairly disastrous with Jake being so short and having position on Skipper. Shoving was the first option that went through my head.
2)Completing. Thought Cody will be shoving very wide once I do that. Maybe not. If he doesn't I'm oop 3handed with 25bets and 22. Need to flop a set to win basically.
3) Folding. Lowest variance line, but pretty nitty and maybe missing out on a good spot to pick up dead money.
Your play?

i mean you must be able to justify jamming from a mathematical point of view. excatly how much ICM issues there are I'm not sure, I kinda think given that jake only has 50% of your stack it's not too big of a deal.
Really don't know. just all about the skipper limp innit, if he hasn't limped much at all that for sure incereases the chance he's limped super strong.
still don't know. Hope that helps
(and nice 4handed in the monte brag
)

Thought this was going go be about the j2 hand.
Like the fold. Like u say, it probs not going to take much for cody to jam and u probably aren't getting correct odds to complete.
Probs more of a jam then the j2 tho

Really don't hate a fold here. Didn't watch enough of the live stream, but it would definitely depend on the range Skipper limps with. Just think you can find much better spots vs the two weaker players and don't need to shove here personally.
Congrats in any case, great work.

lol obv
nah the J2 hand is closer than a lot of ppl think. I've had quite a few respected ppl say they'd probs be shoving 80/90% of hands in that spot. The hands him and Skipper had been limping with (A rag, suited connectors, gappers etc) were just awful. The stack sizes were a lot different then too, Jake had doubled up so that makes a massive difference - no1 was short then. Defo not ICM suicide as you wrote at the time.

def jam imo, skipper was like 10xng his premiums and think money meant q alot to him, don't thinkhe ever calls and it will slow him down like previously when he slowed down after being pegged down abit.

Thought cody was short. Think its still a check tho. U have to give Rasta some credit for mixing up his limping range.

I probably complete here. Not sure what to make of his limp, but pretty sure if you jam and he calls you are going to be dead. I also don't think Jake is going to be THAT light out of the bb.
Also think it depends on how wide you think the difference is between Jakes shoving range if you limp, and calling range if you jam.

25bb is one hell of a big jam with 22 and there are icm considerations to be made here for sure. Is the gain really gonna be that great? I'm pretty certain we can crush the weaker players with min opens in position without taking this small potentially disasturous edge right now.
History is ridic important here too. How much were you squeezing over the limps up til now?

Been hardly any limps up til now, the one or two that there have been have naturally been met with caution.
