broadway in birmingham have the dumbest set of showdown rules iv ever heard. apparently you can muck your cards on the river, unless the tourney is above a £100 entry, in which case all hands at showdown must be tabled. wtf?

I think you have that the wrong way round.
 I asked about the showdown rule there and their reply was. "you can muck in any tourny OVER 100 quid. WTF does the tournament entry fee have anything to do with it ?

Im guessing most people that play in tournaments over £100 have some kind of idea in what and why u are mucking!

In a £15 donkfest the muppets just ask u to show either to a) think they can get a read from your hand or b) want to feel like they have made a good call!

The point is the entry fee should have no bearing on the rule. You either are able to muck your hand or you have to show.
btw I know of some 15 donkfest players who are better players than some of the 500 quid regulars but dont have the bankroll because of other commitments, so the rule should be consistant throughout

How the fcuk does showing both players cards stop collusion?

If they are colluding one player just has to bet 100 into a 100k pot and the other guy can fold.

Asking to see cards is just nosiness and poor etiquette, you've won the pot just take the money and be happy.

either the TD at the £300 in their last festival got it wrong or theyve changed their rules as i was forced to show a losing hand and this was given as the reason

Some people even expect you to showdown on cash tables. At DTD on Saturday night on the .50/1 table somebody 4 bet all-in v my aces.

He flipped his hand over when I called, showing the powerhouse that is KQ, and then suggested I wasn't helping the excitement in the game when I declined to turn mine over until ready to claim the pot after the river was shown.

Its hardly the same as people asking you to show a losing hand in a tournament tho!

Cash you can obv muck the losing hand but here with the AA i would turn over my hand to see how is excited look turned sour when his KQ gets smashed to pieces!!

I'd be interested in seeing a quoted rule that differentiates between cash/tourney play with regards to showing cards. particulary mucking at showdown. Apart from the tournament all in rule I'm not convinced there's any difference between the two formats.

Solution? If someone tilts you in a tournament by asking to see your cards, go play a cash game afterwards and demand to see theirs, because as far as i'm aware unless there's any specific house rule you have every right to do so.

the difference is that the chips are worth differing amounts of money in a tournament so you could theoretically have 5k in chips worth, say £100 to you but £150 to your friend (in terms of tournament equity) so you could give them to your friend for £120. in cash games if you want to give a pot to your mate you might as well give him the cash away from the table. that and at a cash table noone cares if you want to give a mate some chips

that being said, how showing both cards at showdown actually stops collusion is pretty unclear but at least its a token effort.

it's aways the same players in leeds who asked to see your cards now i just make sure they hit the muck then say wooops sorry its really pissed them off

I remember once at moortown I was on the final table in a pot with someone. We got to showdown and I had two pair. He turned over top pair and I threw my hand away face down. He asked the dealer to show my hand, and was not too impressed when the pot was shipped my way.

It was only a small pot, and I was sure he'd ask to see them so I chose this as my method of making a point
