Why is the media obsessed with Afghan losses

I can never understand the media's obsession with reporting our forces losses in Afghanistan.
At every opportunity they ram the latest loss down our throat and report with almost glee the running total of our dead.
Why are the losses of the enemy never reported?
Its obvious this type of reporting has a morale draining effect on the general populace at home as the only news of the 'war' we receive are of the latest running total and pictures of our boys being repatriated and of their grieving families.
It feels like a deliberate act by the media to use this situation to quicken the demise of this government and fuel the anti-war brigade...
I feel whatever our personal views of whether we should be there or not are irrelevant... Our people are there and we should support them...
In WW2 for example our success and wins were reported in order to keep morale at home high...
I don't know how others feel but personally I'm sick to death of this one sided reporting...

Have a look at the Islam4UK website and see the plans for a "march" through Wooton Bassett... Dont know if thats the sort of "balance" we want...

I'm not sure how much of it is bias and how much is just the standard of journalism being piss poor. News media employing less people and needing to fill more space means the journos don't have a lot of time and just spend their days re-wording press releases and going on google. "hope he's innocent and gets off" said thetank
Obv the army and that release press statements when a soldier dies. Every time they do, another story that writes itself, another few column inches filled.
The army might release a different type of press statements more often but I imagine that would undermine some of their military objectives. Winning over hearts and minds etc, would be more difficult if they were releasing daily statements as to how many towelies have been done in before breakfast.

And there you have your answer.

Until we get a couple of inches of snow... and then they all get sent to stand in a white field, overlooking a white road and then proceed to tell us that it's been snowing.

All news is bad news via the bulletins.
Just don't watch it in my opinion. Watch and read what you need to via the internet. You could argue that that's being ignorant but watching the news hardly fills you with joy does it?

Would b nice to get an occasional score for the other side...or r we such bad shots that we havent killed anyone yet...
However it must be hard when the enemy doesnt where a uniform and u don't have a stand up fight...
Its pretty much a war your'e never going to win...the russians were in afghanistan for years and im sure there tactics were more brutal and less playing by the rules than ours..and they effectively got their arse kicked....

Britian is pretty much a bankrupt country and we still persist in playing sheriff to the world, well deputy behind America, even though we can't even afford to equip our troops properly. British men and women are getting killed on the other side of the world fighting to give Afghans the right to vote in their corrupt elections. Personally I'm glad the media does take every opportunity to ram losses down our throat because each one is a travesty.
