Once you've bought it, make sure you have a play around with the settings for contrast, sharpness, etc. If you can get hold of a HD calibration disc it's worth doing, or
use the THX calibration stuff that comes on most Lucas films (Star Wars 1-3 deffo have it)
. They usually are set up for a shop out the box, so ridiculously high contrast and way too bright - a good plasma will give you way better colour reproduction than an LCD, but only if it's calibrated right. It'll take a while to get used to - if you've been watching TV on an LCD, you'll be used to people with somewhat purple skin without even realising it.
Luckily enough my little brother got this box et for Xmas there, i can see the THX sign on the back of the pack, but when i put the disk in, there is no option to click on a THX Symbol anywhere to start the calibration?
Am i missing something Rex?

Dave, where are you thinking of moving to?
Uddy, Tannockside ideally as its smack in the middle of my Folks and Janet's Folks. So easy for her to get out and about with the kids to her mums and sisters house near you etc, and not too far away from Angels Pub and the Windmill Pub !!
Somewhere near yourself, Renny or Pat was be the best option.
Was looking at Calderbrae's too
If so, we should get the TPT up and running again, for a laugh more than anything this time round.

Sorry - not caught up for a couple of days.
Had to go and remind myself - it's semi-hidden. If you put in the main film disc of any Star Wars 1-3, go to "Language Selection" on the main menu, bottom right of that page is the "THX Optimiser". Basically takes you through contrast, brightness and sharpness calibration (and colour as well, but you need special colour filters for that one). Worth doing the first three at least to start with.

cool, nice one mate.
I clocked the Colour filter specs in the THK store for $1.99, might try to get a pair in near future.
Funny how they sell the colour filter specs in the THX store, yet not the actual THX Optimizer disk lol??

If you want to go the whole hog, look for DVD/blu/HD discs called "Avia" or "Digital Video Essentials". Usually these come with the glasses/filters and go into much more calibration detail as well. But just getting contrast/bright/sharpness right can make a big difference.
