Nonetheless I feel Hangeland and Cahill are both fine defenders in unfashionable teams and will hold up well

The midfield is certainly creative, and I would accept would be stronger with an Essien in to protect my back four but I wouldn't underestimate Scott Parker's ability to put a foot in. Just because he was never asked to do so on Tyneside, doesn't mean he doesn't have that in his game He does.
