I guessed that you knew but thought I'd let you know that mythbusters proved it. Quite a good episode actually Smiley

Yes I saw it. I'm a big Mythbusters fan.

Wanna get me a GoPro, makes for great footage

Le me tonight getting taken out by the (70 yr old) cameraman, then me taking out some guy (who started muttering about insurance lol). I skied before but thought I'd try to teach me snowboarding, is good fun but slow learning, lots of bumbruising. Xscape=£23/hr or  £21 for 4 hours (uhhh..), not too shabby

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down 'happy'. They told me i didn't understand the assignment, and I told them they didn't understand life.

Was pretty surprised to read this

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/17980607

Windsurfing out, Kitesurfing in.

And this is from someone who is heavily involved in it lol

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/kite-boarding-wrong-choice-olympics-says-expert-102650487--spt.html

However, Israel's Amit Inbar, who runs a kite surfing school, said the ISAF did not appreciate how dangerous the sport was.
"I think they have made a very big mistake because I think the people at ISAF don't really understand the implications of the decision ... and the dangers of the sport," said Inbar.
Inbar, who represented Israel in windsurfering at the Barcelona and Sydney Games, said there was a real possibility of competitors being seriously injured or killed, particularly at race starts, and when battling for position around marker buoys.

.
.
Israel's sailing chief Yehuda Maayan, however, said ISAF's decision to dump windsurfing in favour of kite boarding came about as a result of an error by the Spanish delegate to the Melbourne meeting where the vote was held last month.
Maayan had told Reuters delegates were probably confused or didn't understand the motion because of language difficulties.
The Spanish Sailing Federation has since admitted its mistake saying its representative voted in favour of kite boarding in error.

I used to windsurf a lot, ran a club here and we had tons of fun and many races when the wind did show. Surprisingly, windsurfing almost died a death, and many boarders went to kitesurfing. I bought myself some kite kit (a board that doesn't support your weight but that cuts through the water, while you dangle from 16 m2 of cloth with an inflatable tube at the leading edge. When you're ready to go for the first time, hooked in to this huge source of power, you really wonder if it's a wise idea. To be safer, you have to have an onshore or cross/onshore wind, but this makes it kind of unsafe too because if you get launched, you can get dumped on the beach or thrown into buildings.

Will be interesting to see how it pans out and how many people die in the first event.
