A Gaming Licence
«
on:

Good Evening All,
Does anyone know of a resource on the web that will provide information about and obtaining a 'Gaming Licence', I have never been a good user of the Internet and my efforts have so far drawn a blank.
Any of you blondes able to point me in the right direction?, it would be appreciated as it is something I am very keen to read up on.
Regards
DTM

Are you after obtaining a license for yourself or for a premises?

on a personal level but it is just a curiosity about the whole thing, I have come in to a few quid and I just wanted to know if it is a "sponsored" course or a private thing anyone can go for.

The best possible way you can obtain a license for yourself is to apply for a job in a casino, you will fill in a form called a GB11 and fill a CRB form in at the same time, if your police record is clear the license is a formality, just a question of waiting for it to arrive on the premises that you intend to work. The casino usually picks up the cost. The first license that you will aquire is red, it usually takes about 6 weeks to be processed. This time is usually used to train you up to a proficient standard. Having a license does not entitle you to use it anywhere, it is only valid at the place that applied for it, and is stamped on the front. This is why agency work or freelance croupiers are not found in the UK.
If you are looking at the other side and wish to get a license for a premises, this is an entirely different kettle of fish. Schedule 2 of the gaming act 1968 will explain most of it. Very Expensive and very time consuming and should only be contemplated with the right guidance and knowledge.

Thanks for the last post there, I had a suspicion it would be very much like the taxi licence where you would have provide an edorsement from a firm before you can sit the relevant tests. (not the best comparision I know). Working for a casino is not an option at this time due to my present committments but I do appreciate the 'heads up' as I will no doubt be returning to this in the next 12 months.
