I am in the unfortunate position of being thought of as a technical expert to someone even older than me, unfortunate as i am not even close to an expert. In order to continue the ruse can someone please assist me with this situation.
They have an old PC running Windows XP and an internet router connected to it with a cable. They want to get a WiFi router so that their son can use his ultra modern laptop on line when he visits.
Am i right in thinking that all they need to get is a new WiFi router that is XP compatible. I will connect the router to the PC with an ethernet cable and the laptop will be able to connect using the WiFi. Is it that simple or is there anything else to consider?
yes it is that simple. You could also get a wireless dongle for the PC so you can have the router anywhere.
