The latest figure is 71 dead. The authorities say it is difficult to know, as the bodies are so densely packed.

would you, or should we, properly describe these poor people as migrants or refugees?

We can't imagine it, but we should try.

I can barely comprehend the whole thing.
What a dreadful life those poor people must have had at home, wherever that was, to risk their lives to try & live a better - normal - life.
Anyone who wants to deny them the chance of a decent life somewhere must be pretty cold hearted, even if it means we might suffer a little, in some small way.

It's dreadful. Those poor people escaping persecution any way they can. If a war broke out, or the West decided to police another part of the world then billions of pounds would be found to fund it. Helping these people would cost just a fraction compared yet the world is dragging it's feet whilst they perish.
