Im pretty new to Omaha but been doin quite nicely at it. This hand puzzled me tho. I really think now that i had him beat. Perhaps i should have re-raised on the flop. Im just worried that he's hit a weak flush draw with his set. Any opinions ?

you lost without a doubt... two very scary cards on the turn and river! so you got away from your top set cheaply.

The thing that confused me was his re-raise on the flop, i hadnt experienced the bloke betting his draws at all. My gut feeling at the time was he had a set with a draw. I definately think having thought about it that im behind.

I'm pushing the pot button on the flop here. I don't want to give him a chance to hit any kind of draw, nor do I want to give myself the opportunity to outguess myself at a later stage and lay down the best hand.

With top set on this flop there are very few hands which are a favourite against you (I think a wrap straight flush draw is, but practically nothing else). If he has a smaller set (or perhaps even just an overpair of aces) you'll get paid off at the 25c/50c level.

Having said all that, you were probably right to fold once the club and two straightening cards hit. You can't beat any legitimate betting hands and its unlikely that he's bluffing.

Definitely pot the flop, he's not folding once he raises you and you're a favourite vs his range; if he does have a set then any draw coming in means you likely get less value.
