I have recently had my "old school" (ie not HD) sky box unplugged for 2 weeks

I have since set it all back up, there is power to the box (red light on), but it wont turn on either by box or remote

Any ideas?

Capacitors in the power supply are one of the most common causes for this fault, if the box was working fine before it is because the caps are in the startup section of the power supply, basically over time they dry out and become "leaky" then when you leave it unplugged for a while the box seems to have developed a fault although the fault was probably already there.
Might not be that but a good chance, you can repair this but probably buy a box on ebay or something cheaper and less hassle.

Mine did this after rearranging the furniture. Turned out it was something to do with not enough air flow around the box

Had it happen to me a couple of times after power cuts. Is it a Thompson by any chance???

Go to sky forums and look at doing a front of box reset. Will lose all your recordings but box should work fine again

Once a thing's been done, it's been done. So why all this nostalgia? I mean, for the 60s and 70s, you know, looking backwards for inspiration, copying the past. How's that rock 'n' roll? Do something of your own. Start something new. Live your life now.
