No reads on this guy, except he's sitting short and i don't recognise the name so presume fish.

50-1 online.

Folds to me on btn i min open to 2 with . BB defends playing 42ish.

Flop  two hearts

He leads 4. I make it 12, he calls.

Turn  Two Diamonds

He checks, i bet 4, he calls.

River

He checks, i jam for just under pot.

Once i raise flop i just decide to use the remaining two streets to push him off. The reason i bet 4 on the turn was to set up a larger river jam while retaining the psychological effect of facing a triple barrel. This obviously didn't work in game lol but wondering what people think of the approach in this hand, and whether they might give up this turn/try bluff some scarier rivers instead or just try and look really really strong regardless like i did here.

presume villain is going to be peeling 100% pre, if were winning this pot then maybe get it in on the flop, maximise pressure on his donk bet, maximise fold equity.
think folding flop is the best play, then going 12 and shoving this turn, then shoving flop.

i don't like this line, we cant raise flop playing short theres no value, bluff raising will not frequently get a fold, the runout is way too dry to expect villain to give up om the river.

would you think his range to be pair heavy on the flop?

Yeah i absolutely think he has no better than 1 pair on the flop, even draws i think he has less often as i'd expect him to either c/r or bet/shove the flop.

I just feel committed to pushing him off once i raise flop vs his weak range. I didn't think a turn jam gets through v often though, nor check turn/jam river on this partic card, but at the same time i don't want to raise flop then give up either.

I wouldn't be so quick to assume that just because he donks he has a weak range and you can get him off everything. From a rec sitting short I'd expect this to be 8x a decent amount of the time, some flush draws that he just wants to get it in with and not a lot of complete air at all. I'd just fold the flop to his donk, imo it gets closer to a peel if we have a heart.

When we raise all we're really folding out is complete air and I just don't think he really has much air in his range with this flop lead. Close to the nut worst turn card to continue bluffing, though vs thinking players I do like the bet turn small bet river big line since it does tend to get a lot of credit because it doesn't look like you were looking for a fold on the turn.

River as played I don't expect him to fold any pairs at this point so its a check. KQ high actually beats everything that he folds imo. His nut flush draws I expect him to just jam the flop.

Idk what it's like at NL but in mid-stakes plo no1 ever had anything when they donked the flop but nowadays attacking donk bets is something you have to do very cautiously. Floating and bombing cards that are not good for ranges that connect to the flop is the current system of favour I believe.

i would estimate i raise flop donks around 90% of the time in hu pots, especially against fish.
