A place for your ideas of how to get a table of people at a live table off their ipads and mp3 players and engaging with the people around them.

Today, I opened a conversation by asking how someone trains to become a lion tamer: do you work with progressively larger cats or progressively smaller chairs?

I have previously gone round the table and asked everyone to guess what the most miserable or largest headphone-clad person is listening to. Then everyone stares at that person to find out.

Lots of people use 'phones at the table - we are here for hours after all - but it's boring if people don't engage.

Any other suggestions? Here's the place to put them. This could become a useful resource in times of need.

I usually play live on Saturdays so open with asking if anyone has any footy bets on today. Always gets some table chat going   Smiley

What are you laying?

Cheesy

(And yes, I might have done that recently, too!)
