I can see the logic in having restrictions in posting in relation to threads under the "staking" category.
But, as in so many things, there are exceptions. Where a "staking" thread has evolved into something else.
In relation to the recent one relating to Stuart Rutter, people who have not been active on this forum for as long as many should be able to post. Hence this thread-although I would mention that I do not wish for this thread to be used for more vitriol-if that happens, please close this thread.
I have 2 distinct advantages over some in relation to this:-
1. I used to be a Solicitor, and have experience in this sort of thing (key words-"used to be"); and
2. I have met Mr Rutter, but do not know him. That gives me the advantage of neither being in the "pro" or "anti" camp.
This is not legal advice, and should not be construed as such. Just some personal thoughts:-
(1) It is important for Mr Rutter not to go into too much detail in relation to this. The last thing he or his family needs is the Police sniffing around. Or indeed Tony getting the administrative hassle.
(2) Of course it is wise to temporarily stop playing poker in UK casinos. In the sense that anyone feeling under certain health pressures should not be playing poker. But, IMHO, there is no need to take the step of precluding playing in the future. There are several current poker players who have done worse than this. I would have no problem sharing a poker table with you. Today. Never mind the future. Permanent restrictions should only involve public (as opposed to private) Staking
(3) In poker terms, you have played 2 hands spectacularly badly. But we have all done that. And those of us still playing have used our resilience and ability to learn from our mistakes to move forward. You have done that before. I try never to repeat mistakes-although I have an endless capacity to find new ones

(4) I'm sure it doesn't feel like it right now, but things will get better.
Best wishes
Phil
