I just caught sight of the university poker advert on the home page and it made me angry.
Why?
Because it reminded me of how popular poker has become within universities and how much I am missing out on.
I only finished uni last year, and, as soon as I do, it all kicks off. I hear of tournaments, get-togethers, societies, etc, etc,. I also keep hearing El Blondie's name thrown into the mix too. So darn you El Blondie for being a year late!!!

I'm missing out on all the fun now.

When me and my bud started playing poker a few years ago, it felt like we were the only students in the whole uni who played. Online poker hadn't really got into 2nd gear yet and the only show on tv was (praise silence) Late Night Poker. Therefore, no societies to join, no uni games to play, and certainly no national student comps. How much would that have been for a student just getting into the flow of the game!?!
On a serious note though, I think its great that the students have gone crazy for the game. (even if it is too late for me!) It's good to have some fresh blood injected into the game and a bit of youth to mix it up with the grandads at the table (insert derogatory tikay comment here)
And good work El Blondie (I take away the darn) for being a part of it and helping those students get even more money.
