A couple of articles went up on the Home Page yesterday - a profile of Bracelet Winner Lawrence Gosney, and news of a new TV Tournament - where, unusually, the sponsor is adding over 100,000 of REAL prize money.

We intend to revitalise the Home Page, with new articles daily henceforth.

And we have also almost finished a redesign of the Home Page - a "new look" - which will be ready quite soon.

You can go direct to the home Page from here.....

yes tikey I heard yesterday of William Hills Fabulous support for the gran priz event......
I have been bleating on in all forums about the sham "sponcership" of events estpescily live ones, like the Brighton summer breeze, which was allegedly sponcered by VCpoker.Yet all they were doing was that old trick of garenteeing an
event with entrance to a future tournement Yet using PLAYERS own money to cover the cost.
Finally at Brighton the worm turned.
When the players were told they could not chop the 6K .prize fund, accumalated in the VC poker saterlite.
Players were told the monies collected had to be used to cover one entry to the future event with the one thou outstanding available for the split....
When those involved refuted and said THIS IS OUR MONEY and threatened leagal action.it was decided the chop could go ahead.
So lets hope That with this magnivicent ADDITION to the prize fund, it heralds a new era of proper sponcership, and not the sham we've put up with till now.

Absolutely Eric.

There have been seveal examples recently of the word "sponsorship" being abused.

For me, they have to ADD something to the Prize pool, or give some tangible & use-able benefit.

In the case of the William Hill Grand Prix, they have added over 100,000, all of which goes to the players, & all of whom will be playing, or be responsible for getting paid, their own entry fees.

Sponsorship does NOT mean simply the right to add the sponsors name to a tourney, surely.

In William Hill's night at Gutshot, they added 5k of "real" money to the Prize Pool of 20k. Thats sponsorship.

I once entered a Pro-Celeb thing, & it mortified me to realise that my reg fee was going to pay the Celebs! "Play Poker with Jimmy White". Great. Play with him? Yeah, I don't mind. PAY for him? Get lost.

2 more pieces just gone on the Home Page.

We announce William Hil's European Rankings (powered, we hastily add, by PokerinEurope.com) Player of the Month. You have to be pleased about who won it.

And there is another piece by Jen, about a guy called Jo Bernard. The problem with Jen is that she is TOO good a writer - it really is a lovely piece of writing.
