Whilst watching poker425 earlier this week i saw the piece from the sportsmans club.

Accompanying the final table profiles were the players European poker rankings.

If i remember correctly these stretched all the way down to the 600s.

How extensive is this table, and how do you acrew enough points to attain such a lowly scoring?

In the latest poker Europa the rolling rankings consist of the top 36 and the poker rankings proper range from 9th to 132nd for the respective formats.

is there a more thouroughly complied published table?

furthermore to this how is it decided that a comp merits ranking status(think this point may have been covered but i'm here now)

Poker In Europe (www.pokerineurope.com), a site run by Jon Shoreman, has the full Rankings in the various categories, and yes they go down to the 600s and the 900s by the end of the year


Points are awarded according to size of buy in and number of runners. Thus if you scape ninth in the cheapest festival event you get, say a £100 freezeout, you get a very small number of points say 60 compared to the 1000 or so for winning a typical UK main event

Each individual can score his or her top ten points scores in any one calendar year, any more scores than that and you have to drop the lowest scores from your final table

William Hill awards a cash prize to the winner at 31-12 each year

It has to be a tournament over £100 in value to enter, according to Mr Shoreman
and has to be scheduled on the calendar in advance

and of course ranking points are frozen at "point of deal" so at a 4 handed deal all four get 4th place points for example...though PIE relies on the players or third parties to report deals because the listed results in the trade press are most usually stated pre any deal.

This has led to some ambiguity in the rankings where some deals have gone unreported, though this is now less of an issue than it was in past years

so really the size of the list(soon to be bigger) is down to an increase in players, that coincides with the expansion of the industry?

presumably then, with the introduction of more tournements that fit the criterea the list will just continue to grow!

as far as i'm aware yes, but if in doubt send them an email, jons a good chap

Usually - USUALLY - there needs to be THREE events in the "Festival" to ensure that Ranking Points will be awarded. But there are exceptions.

Most of the domestic "Grosvenor" Fessies have all events as Rankers.
