Matt Damon is playing the part of Lance Armstrong in a film about his life due out in summer 2007.

I am not sure about this choice.  Matt Damon is a great actor and is one of my favorites, but he is shorter and a lot bulkier than Armstrong is. He is also 36 years old, two years older than Armstrong is now a year after his retirement.

I would like to see the list of actors also considered for the role.

I think he's the best choice out there. He is a superb actor and I reckon he'll get away with it...I just don't know whether I would care to watch it as Lance Armstrongs life sounds like a Channel5 true story on an afternoonsort of movie.

the guy was a great cyclists and all that and yes he overcame cancer to do it but I don't think I@ll be flocking to the cinema to watch them reenact all that....he hasn't had as interesting a life as Ali and that's the only sports biopic I could actually stand.

I agree,  MD is a brilliant actor.  I hope he is good in the role and it works.

Good points Sark but Damon doesn't look a day above 25. Also check out pics of him in Courage Under Fire where he weighed just 9 stone for the role.

I think Damon will be fine.

Very true, I forgot about the Courage Under Fire role, he was really thin in that. He does look young, so he could do a decent job.  I am looking forward to it, LA is my favorite sportsperson.
