This is correct.

Given that you have played it, you need to play it harder on the flop.

All your chips should be in, probably on the flop unless he just flat calls a 3/4 pot bet, definately on the turn if he slow plays his set.

Your play on the river is horrible you have to realise you're beat here.

I wouldn't be totally against playing Q 10 os early in a tournament provided you can get in with a cheap flat call in late position. Even then it's very marginal though.

However calling a 3xBB raise from the big blind with another likely caller behind you is a different matter. You should fold as you're going to end up with Q 10 , which is not particularly strong, with one, possibly two people behind you.

You end up out of position with a modest hand.

Accepting that you play the hand then your bet after the flop is too weak as it doesn't discourage flush draws from calling you.

Once the board pairs on the turn you have to consider the possibility of a full house.  After the turn comes you are reraised twice by Jurbino who clearly indicates that he likes his hand.

As War states you have to realise you're very likely beat at this point and so going all in isn't the right thing to do.

Plus never overlook the fact that he out chips you, you're risking your tourny life here, no turning back if it's the wrong move.  As it proved!

The reason you don't want to play hands like Q,10 early in STTs is that you need to hit a flop very hard to be confident that your in front. These types of hands are difficult to play and often you will just be pissing chips away. Your stack is not deep enough and you don't have time to see lots of flops and be creative.

Ok. you've played it.

The reason you need to play the flop harder is not really because of the flush draw. True you don't want give the draw cheap cards, but your main consideration here is winning a big pot. There is a good chance one of your opponents has hit the flop, often players, particularly at this level will back up top pair with thier whole stack. Basically your not going to get any chips from them if they missed completely with hands like 8,8 etc but you stand a great chance of doubling up from someone who has hit top pair, two pair, or even a set.

Not playing the hand, however is still the best option.

Thanks for the advice guys.

The main thing said has been that i shouldn't have called pre-flop.  The reason for my call was that it was early and he had raised nearly every pot, i thought i'd take a look.  When I see the flop, I'm happy I played it.

But... I should have got away from it when the board paired and he raised me on the river.  I realise that now.

Oh well, I can only learn.
