Was there any way for atificially manufacturing ice before the advent of electricity?

It's useful stuff though. Air conditioning, gin and tonics etc.

I've looked it up. They used to have boats pick up ice and bring it back. Ice harvesting it was called.

What a piece of piss gig that must've been. Saunter up North to pick up some cubes, come back quickly to get minted before it melted.

On the grounds of some Country Homes and Castles, they have 'Ice Houses'.  There is one at Culzean Castle. These are deep pits that were packed with ice during the winter and were used as a way to store foods into the warmer months. They didn't remain frozen for very long, but they acted as a kind of freezer.

wasnt one of the boats called the gigantic, or titan or something like that? dont know what happened to it
