Not sure whether i played this hand badly or well

both the raiser and the caller are both pretty loose, standard pokerstars players.

Do i need to jam river? I think so, i think his calling range is very wide as i do kinda look like i have AK with the action pre flop and on the flop.

Opinions please . Oh and i know i lost the hand, so i promise i'll post a winning hand up soon

If you jam the pot on the river he calls, its that simple, you got away from it cheap, you played it right as far as I can see.

My first instinct is that you overplayed this a bit and I am not sure the jam on the river is the way to go. I am tired though, and river my  decisions are generally very very tight , I tend to overapply the river principle and lose out on a lot of value. I will post again later when I've snoozed.

Why did you check the flop?

I really want to know by the flop where I am with my hand, unless I have a hand of some sort.  It is all depending on your opponents; if they lkike to come over the top or whatever.  What did you put your opponent on?

If he pays attention and you tend to check after the raise if you have AK/Q on the ragged flop, he is waiting for you to do betting for him.  There are various possibilities, but I bet on the flop to see where I am.

If you are going to re-raise preflop, then you need to bet the flop, otherwise there isn't much point to you re-raising pre-flop in the first place. The point of this is to gain control of the hand, yet you relenquish that control as soon as you check the flop.

If you'd bet the flop, then he might have re-raised and you could have got away. If he'd flat-called then at least you'd have somesort of info on his hand.

As it was, he was playing it rather sneakily and once the Queen arrives it's very difficult to get away from as he has checked TWICE, therebye signifying you're ahead.

Very few people play Kings like he did, so I wouldn't take too much from this hand as, in the grand scheme of poker, it's an exception. However, you need to bet that flop.
