Just report him for shill bidding. Then bid on his next item, which hopefully won't have an artificially inflated price.

If not through ebay you of course won't have ebay's standard purchase protection (which a lot of people don't know about).

Thanks for the offer but I don't think it will fit! The table is a 10 man table and there are 10 (non folding) chairs too, along with the 1000 chipset.

As for everyone else...

I like some of those ideas so I'm gonna go for a combination of them ie. confront, demand he knock price down, then set up e-bay buy it now sale.

I reckon he's genuine enough, just that he is shilling. If he does try to rip me off I've done some digging and have plenty of details on him. Wouldn't be hard to get some mates from Colchester to go pay him a visit ;-)

Get the buyer to set it up as a 2nd chance offer at a buy it now price, which can be done, cos i've done it

Then you are ok for paypal protection and ebay protection, but best bet would be to go in person
and hire a van for day and collect it yourself
