Hi blondes

I'm off to sunny Estonia tomorrow for a few days for a mate's stag party. There's 15 of us going, and nobody has played poker before!! However, as we have the Thursday free before the shenigans start for real on the Friday, I'm thinking of teaching everyone how to play and heading off to a casino for the first night.

Does anyone know where I can play in Tallinn? I've done some web searches and found the Olympic Casino, which is part of some hotel, but it looks like they have an Omaha-ha tournament on that night...

Thanks Smiley

The Olympic is the only place in Tallinn that you will find plays any poker. I'm not sure how busy they will be as when I went there it was during one of their festivals so there were loads of scandies in town. Seemed that most of the other players were from Latvia who I meet the week before at the Riga festival.

In response to Tighty comment, yes the Estonian women were very beautiful but I thought the Latvian women were more attractive. Infact I think Latvia have a policy whereby at the age of 18 they kept all the attractive women in Riga to fleece the tourists and send all the "lesser" attractive ones out in the rural sticks.

lol, thanks guys Smiley

I've not met many Latvian or Estonian women before (infact, not sure if I've met any), but do admit to having a bit of a thang for Lithuanian women (esp. at my local casino lol).

I went to Tallinn for a stag a couple of weeks ago and stayed in the Reval Park Hotel which has a decent casino on the ground floor and I think is the one you mention. We were hoping to be able to hire a dealer, table, chips etc so that we could have a little poker game of our own - the olympia casino website says that you can do this. However, when we were there, there was a biggish tournament on the Friday/Saturday (£200 freezeout if i remember correctly). We spoke to the Poker manager (Andre, I think) who said that it wasnt possible given that all the tables were being used and in any case we would have had to arranged it a few days before with him. Maybe email the hotel and ask if its possible to set it up as unlikely to be able to arrange it once there. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks rich. I think I'll take some cards with me, and buy some crappy plastic chips at the airport!...

Nah, we organised it ourselves - got a mate who works in travel who got us 3 nights and flights for £149. I had a look at the Tallinn Piss up website and its got plenty of good reviews so you should be cool with them.

Its a great place as I'm sure you've heard!  Not full of stag groups as some people say. Was loads of russians in town for the match with estonia so was a good atmos in the bar where we watched the engalnd-israel game. Saw a few other groups but note huge gangs like Amsterdam or Prague. Never saw any trouble either which is always good.

Lots of bars and clubs full of fit girls - seriously mate they should rename it 'supermodelland'.

Clubs - we went to Hollywood (younger crowd) and Bonnie & Clyde in the Reval Olympia Hotel (older crowd and crappy euro pap music but absolutely rammed and good atmosphere and if you've had a few  Grin. )

We were out till about 6 in the morning and then hit the 24 hour bar in the casino in our hotel.   >:?

Bars - Bar with No Name, Stereobar (full of posers and models but still good, unisex toilets  ), plus plenty of others of which i forget the names.

Beer - cheap. about 1.50 -2.00 pint max. Try Fizz, the local perry which is pretty good.

Before you get in a cab, agree a price as they will try it on.

Have a good one mate!

cheers rich. Just saw your post on my return. In the end we went to The Bar with No Name - good bar, though the barmaid was having an off-day and was super moody Sad

We also went to Molly Malone's (Irish stylee), and then tried a bar with a cellar area, and a place out back - that was really good, and we met some lovely Estonian girls who we ended up partying with over the next 2 nights (hollywood and a hard house club that I forget the name of - though it was pretty awesome. It may have begun with a P?).

The local lager is called Le Coq by the way. Quite fun asking for "3 Coq's please" Smiley

We also went quad biking, which was also totally amazing, even though my mate Rich rolled his and got trapped under it, almost killing himself in the process. Another mate totalled his into a tree and was banned from taking any further part. I managed to almost get mine sunk in some mud, fun for the guy behind me when I revved and got him covered in mud lol Wink

We also went shooting, which was also great fun. We got to shoot an ak47, a glock, a couple of pistols, a magnum and another gun that I can't remember what it was called.

I only had time for one casino trip, and it was one down a side street off the main square. No poker to speak of, and only 1 roulette table, and 3 card tables. 4 of us managed to win 70,000 Krooni between us (about £3,000). They only had 45,000ish in the whole casino to give us! And once they tried to credit some back to the credit card we'd used to withdraw it and failed (the machine was broken allegedly), they told us to come back in an hour and collect the rest!..

Thankfully they honoured their promise, and albeit very relunctantly, paid us in full.

All in all a great holiday, and a place I'd highly recommend Cheesy
