American Airlines have the most legroom and biggest seats in economy. Just make sure they are flying the newer 777 on the route you want to take. They are still flying the old 767 on the GLA-ORD route and its not the best.

Of course you could try Northwest who seem to think that the DC-10 is the latest thing in air passenger transport.

Nortwest - I had terrible experience with them and their coffee sucks

Virgin - i don't mind them and they have all the gadgets
AA - don't think they have tv screens on the seats, but if you can book the window seat - so much legroom ....

Virgin have the best economy class entertainment system there is. Usually 5 films that you choose which to have on, plus the usual airline channel that is dedicated to one foot in the grave!

The leg room is an issue with virgin (consistency and minimum length) - even the same models of planes flying the same routes have different pitches - but if your six foot or less then it shouldn't be an issue.

My Travel usually can't be beaten for value but you miss out on the air miles.

Steering the thread away slightly (as it won't concern the petit Snoopy) what is the best airline for those of us who are over six feet?

Airmiles, now there's another good thread starter. I managed to collate quite a few with United airlines but as yet have not managed to be able to use them for any flights, is it just meb that has problems if not does anyone  have some handy tips for using them. Cheers..

I have quite a sad fixation with gathering airmiles...

I have a bmi membership.
I get miles for flying with bmi and other 'star alliance' members (of which united is one, and virgin counted towards until recently)
I have a bmi credit card that I use for work and you get a mile for every pound, plus a large signing on bonus.
You get air miles for staying a night in partner hotels, such as hilton and jurys.
Next month I will have enough points for a free (well apart from the tax element) business class return flight to vegas (bmi's longest route), I have had the membership for just under two years. I have sampled the life of the top level lounges at Heathrow and Glasgow and I think I could get used to it!

You should be able to spend you airmiles from of the star alliance members with any of the others. Bmi have an online system, letting you spend miles just like you would normally book flights with cash over the internet (for their routes) I'm not too sure about other airlines but they should have a support phone number who will let you know the rules about cross member bookings etc.

Every time I have tried to cash in my miles with star alliance all i get is ..No airmile seats available on this flight. I just generated mine from using United / BMI ..in the end i have given up trying to cash them...

depends on the route being flown. Most London -> US routes now use the 777 aircraft which has a seat back screens. the older 767 does not.

You can check the website to tell you which plane flies on which route.
