No not the Palestinians - Pot Limit Omaha of course.

For the last few months I've been sticking to Hold Em, but after reading about JohnMW's efforts it inspired me to add a bit of variety to my poker life.

So I had a quick blast through all the variations on Stars. I've played before and learnt the rules but never really studied the doctrine. So I gave a $5 tourney a blast night and was big chip leader for sometime before blowing and going out just b4 the bubble. But u know what?

I really wasn't too bothered!

I just really enjoyed playing PLO and want more!

I'm aware that hand requirements are a lot higher than NLH, but kinda fumbled through by playing hands with pocket pairs and suited connectors etc I think I got lucky big time a few times, but otherwise managed to control the pot sizes for the most part.

But this got me to wandering? What are the hand requirements I should REALLY be playing with AND whats the best book toswat up on?

I know Supersystem will invariably be mentioned...but is it really the best book to read for PLO?Huh?

Hi,

I don't play Omaha but I believe Rolf Slootboom has written a very good book on it. Bob Ciffone and CLoutier and McEvoy also have written titles on it too and there's a chapter in the New Full Tilt Tournament Strategy Book, wriitten by Matusow I believe. No doubt Omaha players like Floppy and Ironside will know if any of the above books are worth it or not.

Go to Amazon search for Omaha titles, there should be some reviews there.

In the meantime here's a couple of links to omaha strategy articles on Pocketfives, there's probably similar on 2+2

dino whats a book?

ok i havent read any poker book most of you can tell but i have read alot and was a member of PSO where rolf was a teacher

basically you want a connecting hand the more connecting the better where you can hit a flop still be behind but be a massive favourite to win double suited hands with 4 running cards ie 7,8,9,T are great but remember that baby flushes are not clever if flopped infact baby flush draw espically online are not clever either even if you have a straight draw as a nut flush draw might not let go pairs are not woth much and even if you hit a set you have to be careful as thre will be draws against them and if its not top set you are also going to run into top set with your middle bottom set alot
sont be afraid to let go off the nuts when you have no redraw espically straights too many people get all there money in with the nut straight only to find there are up against another made straight with redraws to higher straights redraws to flushes and to boats

most important thing is to quickly as possible work out what type of players you are playing and know if they will chase a draw or if they are the type to reraise pre with KKxx or QQxx

oh and take a look at PLO8 even more fun and profitable then PLO

I recently started playing to jj. You should try the (PLHE/PLO) mixed games on full tilt.

Good post by Ironside.  You really should be playing your nut hands strongly.  As was mentioned, straights, flushes, and boats are too often beaten by higher ones.

Keep an eye out also for holdem players who haven't adjusted.  They're the ones holding onto one pair to the river.

You should also look at PLO8.  I actually prefer this.
