Unless blinds were big and one check raise is practically an all-in, I'd bet.

The ace of spades will call any raise that's lower than the pot, plus it disguises your hand which may encourage a set, trips, or even a bluffer, to reraise.

If you bet and find a caller, a check on the turn will often induce a bet from your opponent.

I would think about it for a bit and then bet about half of the pot and hope i get called. If i get called I would then check the turn if the caller checked it to me hoping that he would fire a bluff at me on the river.

If i get bet at on the turn then i would reraise. If you smooth call his bet on the turn he'll put you on a hand and won't bet or call your bet on the end.

even though the boss was taking the pee, it ain't that bad an idea.
it shows weakness and lets be honest you ain't likely to get any chips here otherwise.

I check the flop and then when it checked round to me on the turn. I bet about 1/3 to 1/2 the pot giving someone odds with a big spade and then bet about 1/2 the pot again on the river unless its a spade an then it all depends on the action before you hopefully!

By the way dave is there a hand in hold em you don't like    two spades etc

Personally i make a small bet around double the minimum, you will soon find out if people have got a draw. Straight draw and the nut/high flush draw probably call and you pray another spade hits. In this you also create a pot that someone will fancy a bluff at as the pot becomes desirable, hopefully a dangerous looking card hits the turn and you looking forlorn check it if it is checked around to you. I find you are almost guaranteed to get someone taking a stab at the pot after the river after your show of weakness, hopefully they have hit and your raise will be called. Works online anyway.

i see your point longy  but as it goes in holdem my fav hands are two spades             and    i find them to be very good trapping hands   and as i never get aces i need to play this type of hands
thx for everybodys advice  shame the blinds were so small for me not to get more

I dont often do this but for once i will .

First of all you were chip leader on the button , after a mid position limp you could have raised to get it heads up with position after the flop and prevent the blinds seeing a cheap flop , however i would have called as you did .

Now you flop a straight flush , three players check to you , you are chip leader on the table and have the button , i would definitely bet this flop probably half the pot , two reasons , one they would expect you to and may decide to make a play back with the bare A , two if they were slow playing a flush they would hope you are going to bet in position so they can reraise and more importantly any caller will have a draw either to the A or K flush or with two pair to a full house , they are not going to put you on either 4 6 of spades or the 6 9 you held , so if they hit on the turn you will get paid .

The key points to this hand are the fact you had the button and were chip leader , two elements that could have been used to disguise your hand .
