Mood changes

I have started to notice that I get upset with dealers. I don't mean I give out or complain to them. What seems to happen is that you get settled with a dealer who is obviously a player. He/she has a flow about the game and understands what is happening on the table.
Then you get a new dealer who has no interest in the game and obviously deals in the casino. They automatically point to each player in turn like blackjack. Now I understand that at times they need to point out who is next to act. However last week when it came to my turn to act I started to count out some chips to make a raise. Because I did not acknowledge the pointing of the dealer he started to tap his finger in front of me. I have to say this pissed me right off. I know the weakness is mine but I lost all feeling for the table until he was moved on. This is not the first time this sort of thing has happened. I know the clubs priority is the casino but we deserve to have dealers who are interested in the game or at least understand it.
Am I wrong ! ! ! ! ! !

I am more than happy with a dealer who doesn't "understand" the game if he's fairly new. I am always more than willing to keep them right (in a nice friendly way obviously) simply because it means they get better training from me than they do from some casinos. I don't care for dealers who quite clearly hate being there and are more interested in pissing about. The main thing for a dealer in a casino is that he is able to keep people right, keeps track of what they are doing and (maybe most of all) gets on with it. My biggest peeve in a casino where blind levels are 20 minutes is that you only get to see 5 hands when some dealers deal at your table...yuck.
Generally I am always more than willing to make allowances..mistakes happen and all that and when someone doesn't quite yet grasp poker I'm more than patient with them..experienced lazy dealers that don't care I hate though. (and there is never a excuse for rudeness from the dealer..or poker players for that matter

We had a great dealer at Luton for our drunken STT at the APAT weekend. Kelly was her name. Need more dealers like her.

I agree with everything you said. I will help when I know folks are new. I really hate when they bring dealers from blackjack who are in the habit of dealing with folks who may have had to much to drink. They are comfortable in the casino so are not nervous. However what they tend to do is dominate the table. They seem to stare at the person who has to make a decision. The game is not about them and the best ones are rarely seen or heard.
The main thing for me though is how it changes the way I feel. This is a weakness of mine and I need to sort it out. The answer seems to be to either .....1 Put the dealer right. In my experience that usually makes things worse. To criticise someone publically never goes down well and normally leads to more tension. 2 Complain to management..I hate that as I don't want to get them in trouble. 3 learn to not let it get to me. I need help with this. How does everyone deal with it.

And its sodding ridiculous if you get a dealer who deals 5 hands when the blinds are 20 mins long. I deal in the Cov £30 dc when I'm there and I get through 1 round of a 10 handed table when the blinds are 20 mins long...and I'm not trained.

It really irritates me when people get annoyed with dealers, they are just doing their job.

There is, I think, a psychological thing going off here Denis - the Dealer "pointing" at the player to act,. I saw Surinder Sunar almost explode at Luton recently, simply because when it was him to act, the dealer pointed at him them tapped the table, almost impatiently, then said "it's still you to act". He went loopy!
The better Dealers don't even seem to have to look at who's to act next, they just sense what everyone on the table is doing.
But, as with us, (the players), it takes all sorts, & tolerance is key.
