Has anyone else ever had problems with Vodafone?
I've just bought their new modem/internet card thingy, but can't get on blonde or any such site due to 'content control'. I rang their customer services last night to get it lifted, but apparently you can only get it removed if you have a credit card, which seems highly unfair and discriminative to people who don't have a credit card, especially when they don't mention this stipulation upon purchase and signing of an 18th month contract.
Anyhow, I gave them all my credit card details only for them to say that it wasn't being accepted. My credit card's fine, almost brand new in fact, so I decided to ring back and try another call-person. This time I was told that they couldn't lift it because it was a business account and that I had to ring back the next day and speak to someone from their business department. Why the first guy didn't tell me this, I'm unsure. Also, why I was on a business account at all was a mystery as I'd never asked to be and I was paying from my own pocket. Sigh.
So, earlier today, I wake up and ring up Vodafone again. They do that pet hate of mine where they don't greet you, instead demanding your details. I say that I would like to be put through to the business department, and he just ignores me and repeats the quesiton, "Can you give me your number please, sir". So, I give him my number and he says that he needs to send an email to his supervisor to get it lifted. Apparently, I don't need to ring the business department then! I ask him how long this will take, and he says it could be anything up to 24 hours!!! This really pisses me off as the woman I spoke to last night said it would be immediately.
Is it just me, or are these people morons? He confirmed that you have to be 18 to purchase this modem, so why the hell am I having to chase around to prove my age??

I have a card provided by work (so obv a business account) from t-mobile. In order to access poker rooms all I had to do was deposit £2 from a credit card and it was refunded immediately (proof of age ?) -- 30 seconds it took and all on-line .

Yeah, I did that, but he said it didn't 'accept me', which makes no sense, so I'm guessing he put in the wrong details. Apparently you can only try once !!

I had the same issue. I eventually followed a miriad of online forms, paid the £2 and it did work eventually, well worth it int he end!

snnops the easy way to do it is go into one of there shops and they will do it in seconds

Whilst on there way to Plymouth gukpt flushy and jeff (jaffacake) kimber tried to buy one each of these so they could play online on the long journey from Brighton to Plymouth.
The vodaphone shop in Brighton had sold out so after a long search in every major town from Englands gay capital to plymouth, they resorted to having to buy them in plymouth and only get to play on the way home.
The next day our eager shoppers headed to the town centre, found the voda shop with 2 cards left they where offered a top of the range package for only £50 more,they both snapped it up straight away, but it seems that winningthe worlds heads up tournie does not count with the Vodaphone credit searce company as Jaffa was turned down on the credit check, mr chopper passed with flying colours and made the now irrate jaffa carry his bag back to the hotel.

I signed up to vodafone a couple of weeks ago. I got it lifted by clicking on the content control link that comes up when a site is blocked. You then have to sign up an account and register your vodafone number.
I have lifted the content control twice, once on a pay as you go SIM and once on a contract. I had to register my credit card for pay as you go (I don't remember if I had to for the contract SIM..
).
You register a vodafone account on their site, log in, go to content bars. Then content control. It guides you through removing it. For the credit card check on the PAYG it didn't work the 1st time, it worked the next time I tried it. They chraged me £1 but credited me £2.50 on my phone's balance.
It wasn't intuitive that I had to register to remove the content control etc. It didn't explain that on the content control information page.
It took about 5min or so to disable content control once I'd figured out what was required.
On several occaisions though, vodafone have had a 'technical issue' with content control, which means they can't tell if it's been disabled or not on your account. They give you a message to that effect and then say as a precaution content control measures are in effect. Which means I can't access blonde... It is reallyl annoying, but a disconnect and reconnect usually sorts it. Or failing that, log in to vodafone then enable content control, disable it, then disconnect and reconnect.
Let me know if you are trying to disable it online and run into trouble.
