I was trawling the internet on my day off looking at random rubbish then I check my e-mail for some obscure reason i decided to go through my junk e-mail and there was a notice from Ryanair they are doing deals on flights just now for 1p including taxes.  Interesting I though, I was thinking 'd try and get a cheap flight to Italy for Celtic's away game in the San Siro - its only about 30/70 I will make that one but I thought if I could get a bargain flight then it might be an idea to book one.

I was fruitless in that search, however I did book a return flight to go to Lithuania for a week, flying from Glasgow I got a return for 2 pence.  A bargain indeed.

So has anyone been there and played poker?  Whats it like?  Any reccommendations on accommodation etc?

Thanks in advance!

I could give you countless details re: poker in Latvia and Estonia but sadly I've yet to venture to Lithuania even though I was invited to the last festival comp with free accommodation thrown in. Shame I only had a few days notice. I've had a few friends play in Lithuania and as Tightend has all redy mentioned the Olympic casino is the place to go. I have the link to the Baltic poker website/forum which may be of benefit to you.

PM me if you want it.

I think you will be flyng to Kaunas, Bandit, so you probably want to get to Vilnius for any poker, hopefully you can get a bus.  If you can get there the Reval hotel in Vilnius is the best one of the three in the Baltic capitals.  The Olympic casino is under the hotel, rooms are nice and the restaurant is fine.

I can believe it's better than the Reval Olympic in Riga and the Reval Park in Tallinn, the one where the casino is, but doubt it can be better than the Reval Olympic in Tallinn. I was on the 19th floor, facing the harbour, able to see the old town, basically an amazing view of Tallinn. The facilities where so much better than those at the casino Reval Park hotel.

I stayed in the three where the casinos/poker festivals are - not sure if that includes the one in Talinn that you refer to, I preferred Vilnius to Talinn as the rooms were nicer - we got mini-suites for €90 a night - and the restaurant was really great - I got a beautiful steak for about 5 quid.

The Reval Olympic in Tallinn is about a 5 to 10 walk away from the Reval Park which is where the casino is located. The guys who stayed at the Reval Park casino hotel said it was a dump compared to the Olympic. If anybody goes to Tallinn don't make the mistake of staying at the casino hotel unless you like basic. Even better was the fact that I got it on a 3 nights for the price of 2 offer meaning I paid 60 euros a night.

I did like the top floor bar at the Reval in Riga. However the casinos tacky vodoo theme was something else  >:?
