Background music on TV shows

Has anyone else noticed that it is impossible to have a TV show now without loud music in the background?
I just watched the pilot episode of Journeyman on Sky. The background music was so loud that it actually made it hard to hear what the characters were saying to each other.
One area of television that bugs me are nature shows. I love nature shows, but when they put heavy rock music in the background it spoils the show.
What is the point of drowning out what people are saying? A few weeks ago I watched a news feature on Sky about ex WW2 service men. As one old guy was being interviewed, some moron had decided to put thumping music in the background.......WTF is the point in that? It shows a lack of respect for the veteran being interviewed.
I have no idea how TV shows are made, but it seems like they make a good/great show and then hand it to a youth and say "Here you go Billy, add in some of your tunes". Billy replies "Yes Boss, I know just the tunes to get right up people's noses ".
I hate to sound like an old guy, but it wasn't like this in the past
I guarantee it , the next David Attenborough series will have some pish music blaring away in the background .

Sark, it's impossible to go anywhere or do anything without loud background music.
In shops it's so loud that you can't hear what the salesperson is saying, and in cafe's restaraunts and pubs, it makes conversation impossible. For me at least, the so called "Background music" (Which is really forground music) makes many an otherwise interesting TV programme unwatchable.
Lifts, loos, reception areas, waiting rooms, card rooms, etc etc, all spoilt by unwanted loud obnoxious drivel. They should do the same thing with the people that want it as they did with the smokers, bolt a cage on to the side of the building and let the ******* ******** all go and listen to it together and leave me in peace.

I have had music of mine played on TV, particularly on sky sports, except its was the other way round, it was so damn quiet I could just about hear it.
I'd loved to have got the sky tv menu gig, if that person is on royalties (which they should be) therye onto a winner.

Yeah - I've noticed one of the menu tunes is the same as the theme tune for the open - so they probably get used quite a lot

The guy who wrote the tune for the original Channel 4 sting ('durrrrr, durrrrr, duh, durrrrrrrr' as the 4 graphic arranged itself on screen) got £3.50 every time it was played (which was before every programme).

When I was a Kid, it used to drive me crazy when my Dad refused to go into shops that played loud music. The only shops he would go into where the Ironmongers, ASDA and the fishing bait shop. As I am getting older, I have started noticing that music in shops is very irritating. I like music, but not when I can't hear what the shop assistant is saying to me .
