Passwords protecting and remembering

I know the general thing for thread is for passwords to everything, but banks already have things like this.

First Direct & Egg for instance, you can open up all your banking websites and display you balances from everything, all together, but to do this you must put in all your passwords. They have been going for about 18 months + for what I can remember and there does not seem to be a problem.
