The Equal Chance Club in Walthmamstow, London E17 are staging the most amazing charity event this coming Sunday 18th December in aid of Game for Life. Their aim is to raise enough amongst their members, old (cue Tikay jokes) and new to build, equip and maintain their own school in the Tsunami hit region of Ampara in Sri Lanka.
Many readers of this forum have already attended charity poker events staged by Poker4Charity or others, and most have had truly fantastic times, however this event promises to be even
better.
The details provided by the nice people at the Equal Chance Club are as follows:
At this time of year it is hard to forget the problems that
occur all around the world and affect many, many lives, especially
what happened 26th December 2004 when the worlds
largest Tsunami devastated the lives of hundreds of thousands in
South Asia.
The worst affected area was the Island of Sri Lanka so we
at Equal Chance are asking its members to help the Game for Life
a registered charity (CharityNumber 1108681) to raise enough
money to build a school, provide desks, chairs, equipment, uniforms
for the children, and help pay the running costs including
the teachers salaries etc.
The club will hold a one day event
starting with a pool exhibition by a professional player mixed with
10 Ball Crash. We have also invited a fantastic magician who will
perform card tricks and much more, as well as raffles and an
evening Texas Hold’em poker tournament, We the management
are confident that our members will come along and support us in
our efforts to raise money on their behalf.
