Extract from the Skegness Standard -

The Government's casino advisory panel granted East Lindsey District Council a small casino licence yesterday.
Developers will now be asked to submit proposals for high quality complexes, housing a casino on sites between Skegness and Mablethorpe, the coastal action zone.

ELDC deputy leader Coun Dick Edginton said: "A number of large companies are keen to develop a small casino on our coast and in the coming weeks we will be having more detailed discussions with interested parties."

Four possible locations for the casino have already been made public.

These include Southview Leisure, Butlins, Fantasy Island and more recently Coastal Land, which unveiled plans for a futuristic pier at Ingoldmells Point, revealed exclusively in last week's Skegness Standard.

Plans rangefrom four-star hotels, bingo halls, conferencing facilities, caberet and show bar to retail outlets, a cinema, and restaurants.

Coun Edginton continued: "We are delighted the Government has granted us a licence because we put forward a solid bid for a small casino that focused on the need to regenerate East Lindsey and the need to create all year round jobs."

He added hotels, restaurants, and leisure facilities would all help to generate more year-long tourism in the district.

He concluded: "This announcement, coupled with our plans to redevelop Skegness' southern foreshore, gives the Lincolnshire coast a bright and exciting future."
