I am taking our daughter down to London for 2 days over half term. Train is booked but need a hotel for us. Gonna be doing touristy stuff so something pretty central would be good. Don't want to break the bank, but not total budget, any suggestions ??

I think it's called the Grand Hotel - it's in Holborn. Pretty nice and central with transport links all easy and close by. I think they do some pretty cheap deals too.

Go with a well know chain, that isn't best western, or pay reassuringly high price for a top end place. Holiday inn express has an offer on, or will in the next week - there's a few of those around town, or near buses/tubes.

if you are lucky, you can get good rates at this place, and it is pretty well located

Clean and 2 blocks from tube, zone 2 - Kensington.  Olympia Room.  Cheap and cheerful, clean but small, felt safe and friendly area.  I booked through Late Rooms, two nights and the 3rd was free.
