Is There Any Way To (Tech Help Req'd.).........

A friend of ours has purchased a laptop and it's Vista...without Microsoft Office. He has a desktop that has XP and Microsoft Office, but it's not Vista compatible version.
Is there any way to work around the lot to get Office on his laptop for him? We have a portable HD, but that's pretty useless for sharing it over if the Office isn't Vista compatible.
Soooooooooo, is there any quick fix place online to sort the lot out for him? Any info would be much appreciated!!!

How old is their version of Office? Office 2007, 2003, XP and 2000 are all compatible with Vista.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932087
www.openoffice.org
is Office-compatible and free.
http://www.software4students.co.uk
has Office Std 2007 for £36.

Their desktop is less than 5 years old, but I'm not entirely sure of the Office version. I copied the whole Office program folder to the portable HD and tossed it on to the laptop, but no joy when I went to open it. Granted, I haven't a clue when it comes to this kind of thing and was just chancing me arm with fingers crossed.
Is OpenOffice an ok program? Have you ever used it? They own a small grocery shop and he'd be doing a bit here and there to keep the shop info organised.

OpenOffice is fine, it's like a free version of MS Office.

While we're at it, what sites should I book mark for them to watch TV shows, sports and movies?
So far I've added
http://www.channelsurfing.net/
http://moviefather.com/
Some of the US channels seem to be blocked from people living outside the States. Ideas?
Thanks for all the help!!!

For sport, get it all here
http://www.myp2p.eu/
You'll need to download a viewer such as Sopcast, but there's links on there I think (or google Sopcast!)

with regards MS Office, you cant copy the files from one PC to another and expect it to work. The install program copies a lot of files to various locations and registers them to the windows registry. its always best to do a fresh install of ms office from the cd. on saying that even though ms office will run on vista you will get a lot of problems with files and security unless it is office 2007+. my advice would be to buy a copy of MS Windows XP and install that instead

You would need to install Office rather than copy it as Stallyon as said, however from what you've said I'd go with Graham's ...

I think its effectively up to a few versions older than the current MS Office - but the most up to date features don't do that much anyway so they might as well stick with this free version of it.
