Anyone know the best way to go about this?
I want to be able to basically take control of a friends pc, im sure it is possible any help much appreciated.

I've used both logmein Pro and Free for about 5 years with no issues.

Remote desktop connection is built into windows. It takes a bit of time to set up if you need to port forward through a router. Logmein is a lot easier to set up, but you use it through a browser window whereas with remote desktop connection proper your screen becomes their PC so to speak.
