A bit of an odd thing happens from time to time on my laptop.  It suddenly becomes extremely slow if I click on a window that is minimised to bring it on screen - once its up there everything is normal speed.  There isn't anything running that slows it according to task manager.  Any ideas?

Could be your anti-virus software running a scheduled scan.

no thats the odd thing - nothing shows up using processor speed on task manager and the fact that when the window is finally up it works normally indicates that the only problem appears to be errr getting it up.

Vista per chance ? Has it always done it ?

If so you might want to look at simplifying your GUI. Go to the Welcome Centre -> Show more details -> Windows Experience Index -> Update my score

It will then try to tune vista for your laptop.

yes working fine imo - was getting loads of memory errors with postgresql and holdem manager b4 I upgraded which have now stopped.

Its simply slowness when clicking on a minimised window i.e. it takes an age to come up on screen.  It goes away if I reboot.
