If you go to the Dell website for support, they point you
here
to download the wireless driver for 32bit Windows.

Many thanks for the suggestion Neil. Although, having had another lovely online/then phone chat with Dell Technical Support, it would appear to be a hardware problem with my Wireless Intel WiFi Link 5100 card and loose connections. Suffice it to say he's sending me an email and I get to play at being a Dell Laptop Technician and do the necessary exploratory work. I'm wondering, should I wear a tie?
