I'm a bit closer mate, but still a million miles away My grade is 1700+ on Chessmaniac, the main site I play on. I've gave a couple of IM's a run for their money in games, but nowhere near their level yet

I was reading somewhere that it takes your average genious/savant about 10 years of obsessive graft to achieve grandmaster status. Quite a road.

Not sure about that as IM jack Rudd is struggling to keep his IM status let alone achieving GM status, and he's been playing for a long time (he is Autistic too, apparently)

It might take ~10 years to achieve Grandmaster status but that does not mean everyone who tries achieves it.

Ironside has been playing poker for 10 years but he's still gash.
