My iPhone is broke and I cannot find the warranty form for it (I have a sneaking suspicion I ripped it when I opened it from its original packaging). I can prove that I am an O2 customer that got the iPhone as part of an existing tariff.

So I am taking it to my apple store tonight for them to try and fix it, assuming its totally screwed, do I have to present my original warranty form to get it replaced? What are my rights in that regard? I wanna get ready to make a big fuss and quote some little used nugget of consumer law to open a can of whupass on them.

Did you buy it from the Apple store?

Do you have a proof of purchase?

Got it sent from O2 and I sorta have proof of purchase, confirmation via email from the 02 store but not a paper receipt.

I'd give O2 a ring and see what they say, doubt the Apple store will be too helpful but O2 sold you the phone and so it should be covered by the sale of goods act which says it should be fit for purpose etc.

Is there and IMEI number within the phone?

This should be registered to your phone number and name/contract.

Did you take out the insurance option?  £7.50 a month I think.

I wouldnt have thought its anything to do with an Apple store, O2 will probs send you a pre-paid envelope which you then send the phone back to them in.

Hats off to Apple, they just looked at the serial number on my phone, saw it was still in warranty and gave me a brand new one there and then, took all of two minutes.

Good customer service is rare these days ... credit to them.
