Hand from £50 freezeout at Grosvenor Leeds.

Hero and villain both playing between 28-29k.

Villain is well known Leeds reg and occasionally plays the circuit.

Villain just been moved to table about 5-6 hands ago.

Blinds are 200/400/50

Multiway limped pot, villain limps from hijack and hero is in bb with 7 4o and checks his option.

Flop      sb checks, hero leads for 2.5k folded round to villain who flats, everybody else folds.

Turn  hero now leads for 6.2k (thoughts on lead and bet size?) villain flats again.

River    What heros line now Huh?

How many in this multi-way pot?

Probably lead less on flop unless it's 7 way minimum.

Bet less on turn.

Check/call river.

+1

Flop bet is on the large side, but I don't mind this so much multi way. In a limped pot we could have all sorts of pairs/draws out there and we want to thin the field and made those who stay in pay the maximum. At the same time we have bottom two, which is nice but vulnerable so we don't want to build too big a pot.

On the turn though we're now heads up. I'd prefer a smaller bet here. 6.2k is almost pot size (by my rough calculations). 4kish is probably fine here.

One thing betting smaller achieves is there is a smaller sized pot on the river. As played we've left ourselves with a psb for the river which with bottom two isn't really ideal here. Limpy hands such as JT/QT/89 have all got there (and we can't rule out hands that beat you all the way in the first place) and we may well find ourselves playing for stacks on the end.

As played, and with the smaller bets, I think it's an easy check/call on the end. Hands that beat us are calling/raising our bet. I don't see any hands calling our river bet which we beat with maybe the exception of AT/KT (which may well have raised pre). Check/calling also catches hands that villain might bluff with such as 65 and fds.

do you just pot bet with vulnerable made hands or do you bet this big all the time?

i.e. when bluffing, semi bluffing etc (if you do this)

just curious
