4 handed minithingy on Stars.  Villian is very active as you'd probably expect for a 4 handed comp, always raises me without fail if folded to him, normally raises regardless.   When I had about half the chips I have at the moment, I've shoved ott of him a few times and got away with it so I'm guessing he's finding me annoying.

PokerStars Hand #77540184649: Tournament #2012003051, $4.00+$0.40 USD Hold'em No Limit - Level XXV (3000/6000) - 2012/03/20 20:24:06 ET
Table '2012003051 95' 4-max Seat #1 is the button
Seat 1: flowgart (535420 in chips)
Seat 2: only1RPMAC (341156 in chips) out of hand (moved from another table into small blind)
Seat 3: Hsova (599485 in chips)
Seat 4: Graham0573 (273553 in chips)
flowgart: posts the ante 750
Hsova: posts the ante 750
Graham0573: posts the ante 750
Hsova: posts small blind 3000
Graham0573: posts big blind 6000
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to Graham0573 [Ah ]
flowgart: folds
Hsova: raises 7500 to 13500
Graham0573: raises 34500 to 48000
Hsova: raises 550735 to 598735 and is all-in
Graham0573: calls 224803 and is all-in
Uncalled bet (325932) returned to Hsova
*** FLOP *** [ ]
*** TURN *** [ ] []
*** RIVER *** [ ] []
*** SHOW DOWN ***
Hsova: shows [ ] (three of a kind, Kings)
Graham0573: shows [Ah ] (two pair, Kings and Queens)
Hsova collected 547856 from pot
Graham0573 finished the tournament in 314th place and received $58.88.
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot 547856 | Rake 0
Board [ ]
Seat 1: flowgart (button) folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 3: Hsova (small blind) showed [ ] and won (547856) with three of a kind, Kings
Seat 4: Graham0573 (big blind) showed [Ah ] and lost with two pair, Kings and Queens

Losing aside, given that I've 40 odd big blinds, calling his shove was pretty bad wasn't it?  The reraise was ok I think, I'm just thinking that as he's always folded to me in the past calling his shove was a bad move.

Seems like you can easily get this in and be very happy about it.

The three bet is for pure value I expect therefore i'd be snapping very, very quickly once he jams.

In saying that, your huge 3-bet probably narrows his 4-bet shoving range considerably.  He may see your large raise as representing strength and only continue with bigness.  I'd probably make it around the 33,000 mark then call the jam.

Pretty cold.  Unlucky.

Didn't realise the 3 bet was that big either, will tone it down

Thanks

Maybe it isn't, it's just bigger than I like to make it.

A smaller 3-bet gives you more room for maneuver post flop with 40bbish stacks.  Makes re-steals cheaper.

If you are never 3-bet bluffing you become predictable but if your 3-bet bluffs are sized 3.5x the open they become too pricey.

This is a balance that I struggle to strike.

Would be interested on others thoughts.

make it like 38k and don't fold. Give him more room to spazz and more room to work post; you can get a flop and proper turn bet in with smaller sizing
