As I mentioned in the other thread, the Olympics has really opened up my eyes to sports beyond football. I really want to start watching other sports more, both on the telly box and in person.

I must say, several times I have tried to look up some UK calendars for athletics and indoor cycling, but have found the resources available quite hard to navigate.

Sooooooo - as a newly enlightened British sports junkie, what big events are coming up for the rest of the year? Particularly in athletics and cycling? I also fancy seeing the ATP masters at the end of the year.

Ideally I'd want to see the big names I saw at London 2012, but all levels are good.

I know there is a an athletics meet in Brum this month but I cant go to that.

Get a couple of teenage siblings in dressing gowns to fight over a remote control (not my description but have yoinked it happily) and you have judo.

Joking aside, will be interesting to see whether numbers in the stands go up for the next few months.

The Vuelta (Tour of Spain) starts on Saturday, I believe each stage will be covered on Eurosport.

Chris Froome will be leader of team sky and is 2nd favourite behind Alberto Contador. This is the last of the 3 Grand tours (France, Italy and Spain) of the year and is going to be a world class field.

Recommended. The one day classics are hard & fast racing, excellent viewing.

btw I've have a long shot bet on Xavier Florencio, a past winner with something to prove.
