And growing up, I was eight and a "forced" toon fan in the wilderness years - however this is the first game I really remember - was brilliant - as a game, not as players....The five minute final

People always ask me why i support newcastle, seeing as i live in Rochdale. When i was a kid i was kinda forced to support man united, watched all their games, until the newcastle 5-0 whooping, threw a big strop and said im supporting newcastle from now on, and its always stuck.

Still think Kenny is the best we (probably anyone) have ever produced but this guy who sadly passed away far too quickly was really special. I am too young to mention Baxter who my old man keeps telling me took the piss out of the World champions.

Haha, quality.

This game>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Spurs game.

On the otherside of it, these two were the worst:

Cried like a baby and sulked for a good while after this, we absolutely hammered them and they seemed to only have that one chance, Schmeichel at his best, was abs devd

After this one we knew we'd blow the title pretty much, so glad I was only young so it didn't hurt as much as it would if it happened now.

Disgracefully, obv, Fenton got a lot of shit after this, his parents windows got put out I heard as well as assorted other bs, way ott. I actually never knew until now when I just read it that Shearer set them both up, fuck that guy, always said he was a massive douche.

The Brazil team in the 82 World Cup were magical to watch as a 7 year-old.  You'll notice that none of the players featured are defenders, which is why we don't talk about the World Cup winning Brazil team of 82, but this isn't a bad little montage of goals from a single tournament!

Eder's goal vs USSR is one of my all time favourites.  I remember we all wanted to be Zico when we played in the park.

Enjoy:

Agree, love Wilson's stuff.

The Blizzard, which it mentions at the end of the article, is excellent. I prefer the hard copies but it's also available on a pay what you want download basis here - http://www.theblizzard.co.uk/

I always remember this goal as a kid growing up...

the run up is the business as a kid, just massive, i remember trying to recreate long run ups and taking penalties with run ups (sprints) from the half way line and being cream crackered when you get to the ball.

For me the trajectory of Johny Metgod's goal is what i most remember, the ball appears to rise after staying low and flattish till the peno spot.
