"but suggesting that clubs should be able to lose infinite millions can never be a sensible idea."
Why the constant need in all forms of society to have some kind of state/regulatory control? If some lunatic wants to spend £500 million on a football club it's nobody else's business. Just say that it can't be done via loans, and has to be by cash injection with no recourse.

its the first step to really making sure this silly boom and bust culture gets rained in. I can see in 5 years time they have a form of salary cap in place too, this is just the start. I like what the football league has done.
Shame some clubs will just get around it

If you go on what the Football League has done, then the Premier League would look like club size 1st-20th, then definitely no chance of knocking Manchester United off top ever.
£105m loss over 3 years is at least something, rather than nothing, but to me makes no massive difference as everyone can mask it in their own way and you actually don't see many clubs (apart from Chelsea and Man City) racking up over £35m loss a year.
I think it's a fake all round.

Not fake really, just there to keep it within the realms of realistic, instead of letting people playing real life football manager with out clubs.

I don't think this measure will make any meaningful difference.
But I think you need this so that in the future it can be tightened up.

So we know Citeh will just rely on the far east to buy up seats even though it's blatently obvious that's what they're doing with all the empty blue seats at a lot of the home games, not sure how chelsea turned a progit last year, but the teams gone to shite so unconcerned, but what about Liverpool, maybe even QPR, or others that hoped for a sugar daddy to take them over to play real life football manager.
Bit late so not really worked out how this will effect the league, thoughts?
I'm really not convinced it will affect anything. City will just sell their stadium naming rights for 888 billion to a far eastern company who happens to be owned by the same guy who owns the club. They have already gotten away with it once.

Y Far East?
Us far easternian will only support teams in red
Just like the way Cardiff turned red cos far easternian wants them in red
meant middle east, well Saudi, damn it ws late when I posted it. Basically City's owners have been cooking the books as to their income for a few years now, blatently obvious if the fair play people watched their games.
As opposed to this ?

Hehe, I meant buying up seats to make the stadium seem like it's selling out games. But yeah, United are selling every conceivable sponsorship avenue, more down to the yanks money grabbing than anything else.

This has been in force for many years in league 1 and 2.
We are on the borderline of meeting the requirement and we have the highest average in the football league and sold the most pints at a football stadium in England last season!

Sik brag, the pints sold not the attendance
.. FC United fans have drunk many an away bar dry in the last few seasons..
