A friend of mine had his brother struck down by this, and he watched him go from an active and healthy man to a shell of himself before it finally killed him.

The director I'm working for currently was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease at around xmas last year.  He's in a wheelchair now most of the time.  It's a horrible and cruel disease.
