For the football fans ....

"These two really don't like each other"  Mark Lawrenson

In East Lancashire, you are either Claret and Blue ... or you are Blue and White.  You are never 'either', nor are you ever 'indifferent'.  Me?  I bleed Claret.

At 12.15 today, the 100th meeting of the oldest derby game in English football will kick off at Turf Moor.  It is dubbed El Lanclassico.  Burnley have not won this fixture for 34 years, although this statistic is skewered slightly by the fact that we have only played each other 8 times in that time.  That's a whole generation who has never seen us beat them.  I certainly haven't.  Win today, we put all of that nonsense to bed and fly, albeit temporarily, to the top of the Championship.

I woke up this morning feeling sick.  It is games like this that I think Bill Shankly had in mind when he declared that football was more important than life or death.  For me, it is more than bragging rights at stake.  Burnley have always been the underdog; the perceived inferior cousin to the Big Shots at the other end of the M65.  Since the greatest football owners EVER bought their club (Venky's, for those out you out of the loop), they have been knocked well and truly off their perch and a win today would reflect significantly on the progress Burnley have made.

I am off to find my lucky scarf.

See you on the other side.

There's a couple of (ex) Burnley hooligans moved up here (SW Scotland) mainly to keep out of trouble AFAIK - some of their stories of the carry on around that game are scary, even to me & I've been going to Celtic v Rangers games since 1984.

Good luck today, Natalie, very good to see you last week.

PS - Do yourself a favour. Don't wear that hideous orange jacket, right? You looked like a railway worker in a high vis.

Very good.  He is second striker really to Danny Ings, and he's no Charlie Austin, but he's a good enough striker for the Championship.

Stan's goal was immense. I really thought that had won it for us.
