Anyone been to Sri Lanka?

Thinking about having maybe 10 days there or so. Probs 7 days travelling and maybe 3 days on a beach to chill where there is a bit of nighlife/drinking or something along those lines?

Any recs or info anyone please?

if possible try to avoid tamil tigers storming airport and blowing up all the planes. i flew out literally 2 hours before it all kicked off.

got off plane at heathrow turned phone on,loads messages from a v worried mum.

was only there one night in transit so no advice on places sorry, was ages ago but i do remember the only beach i walked on was not a patch on most of thailand also remember that the sea looked very rough.
