Coral Traders

Just a general question from a sports betting noob, I've had my Coral account for years since I used to play on their poker skin but I've never placed a spots bet with them before and the account has been dormant for about 18 months. I tried yesterday to get £200 on a goals over/under in a lower league Portugese game. I hadn't deposited when I put it through and the betslip said it was sending the bet to a trader to review. They came back with an offer of £100 max with one minute to accept or decline. By the time I'd deposited it had been declined so I tried to put through 200 again and this time it was accepted.

So my question is how do these traders work? Was it just that the trader that my first bet went to was a bit of a nit and restricted it? I assumed that there would be some sort of formula for this stuff and whether they accept or decline the bet.

its because it was on such a low level league their limits for over/unders in those games will be pretty low.  Shouldn't be anything to worry about going forward.  More to the point what made you want to have £200 on it as a first ever bet with Coral?

The first trader was probably just a nit.  It's very hit and miss what you get on when you have a relatively new account on low grade events like that.

back at price X on coral, lay at price Y on betfair, make profit or freeroll on the spread regardless of outcome. e.g. I lay you 3/1 for £10 on some event happening, someone else wants you to lay them 2/1 for £10 also, you make both bets and print money regardless of which outcome. Either event happens and you win £30 from me and pay £20 to the other lad thus being +£10, or event doesn't happen and you lose £10 to me and gain £10 from the other lad thus being +/- £0 and having had a free hit at £10.

A big factor is whether they have had their lunch yet.  Its also generally best not to try for a bet in the hour or so before horseracing starts because that is when they fill out their placepots and Lucky 15's run to the local Betfred shop and they don't like to be disturbed then.  I tend to avoid when Coronation Street and Eastenders are on too.

Joking apart if you ever do find out what goes on in a Coral traders mind then many of us would pay to find out.

Interesting story about Coral's today to give some balance to them never laying a bet.  Went into a shop i have never been in before and asked for £2k on something they were on their own top price about (relatively decent odds against shot).  Wasn't expecting to get the lot on but they phoned up and said it's fine bet on not before asking a) how i was going to pay and b) what my name was??.  Is this standard in betting shops now?  Assume they ask how you are going to pay because if you are using your card they can look at your account etc but why would they ever ask what your name is?  I hardly ever use shops any more but i have never been asked my name when placing a bet in 20 years of going in betting shops.

Never asked my name either, Coral or elsewhere. I always tried to avoid using the card too but it happens sometimes.
