Hi all

Usually i use Open office for some spreadsheets i maintain.

One particular one was not working correctly and having sent it to a friend he has fixed it for me but only so it works in excel rather than open office.

Upon trying to use Excel on my laptop i am asked for an activation key? I have entered my windows 8 activation key to no avail? The laptop came with windows pre installed i cant find a office key anywhere?

Questions are

Will i have one somewhere?

How do i obtain one? (have searched google but a bit of a minefield)

thanks in advance

You have to pay for a (legit) MS Office key. Your Windows key is only for the operating system. You can probably get one off the net somewhere but I'm not sure on the best places to find one these days.  Will it not open in Open Office? Failing that, have you tried Google Spreadsheets? Perhaps it will open in that.
